About the Band Program
The Adamstown Elementary instrumental program is a “pullout” and before school lesson program that offers students the opportunity to learn a band instrument and experience all the wonderful opportunities that come w/ participating in a music ensemble.
Information regarding Fall ’12 lessons.
Lessons will generally start the second week of band. I will be around to your child’s class to give them a schedule to follow which will let them (and you) know when and what time their lessons are any given week.
Contact one of the following music stores to rent/lease an instrument if you still need to get one for your child.

…please keep in mind that the fall is a three month trial period for your son or daughter. Really try to encourage them to stick with it til Christmas. Then, if after talking to me and your son or daughter doesn’t wish to play any longer, you can allow them to discontinue w/ their instrument. If you do choose to allow them to quit, please make sure you let me know and contact the store from which your renting/leasing the instrument to find out how you need to go about returning the instrument.
Concerts and band practices…
The fourth grade students, (and any first year fifth grade students), first concert will be TUES. MAY 14TH, 7PM. (I generally do not have the beginners play in the Winter/Holiday concert.) The fifth grade students’ (or second year players), first concert will be THURS DEC. 13TH, 7PM.
Even though lessons are given once a week during school time, we do have a voluntary before-school band practice once a week. Adamstown band rehearsals are on Wednesday mornings from 7:45am til 8:20am. I am at the school by 7:15am for any early arrivals. If you have problems getting your child to most of the rehearsals, then think about carpooling w/ the other band parents or contact me. Maybe I can help you find a ride for your child.
Morning band rehearsal will begin on WED. SEPT. 19TH for 5th grade (second year) players only. Beginners do not come to before-school rehearsals until sometime late January.
The final concert of the year is the ICE CREAM SOCIAL CONCERT on SUNDAY MAY 19TH. This is the concert where all the elementary bands in the district combine for one memorable musical performance. You also will have the opportunity to see all the other instrumental groups from the MS and HS perform throughout the day. This concert will be held at the high school stadium. The rain site will be the HS cafeteria. Please mark your calendars!
