Chorus

☞Adamstown Elementary Chorus

2012-2013

Greetings Parents,

Your child has expressed an interest in joining the chorus this year.  Please help your student to understand that joining chorus is a yearlong commitment. Please carefully review the expectations below before signing the contract. Your child will not be allowed to participate without your permission, so please have your child return the bottom portion of this letter to me by Thursday, September 13, 2012.

EXPECTATIONS:

  • Attend all chorus rehearsals during recess. 4th grade chorus will practice during recess on A days. 5th grade will practice during recess on C days. Students who are in attendance at school must attend rehearsal during recess. Students who leave school early on any day for any reason are excused from rehearsal. Release time students will also be excused if release time falls over a chorus rehearsal. However, students who are frequently absent may be asked to perform individually for Mrs. C to ensure their knowledge of the music in order to participate in the concert. Students who were present in school and have missed two or more rehearsals may not be permitted to perform in the concert pending an individual singing assessment.
  • Actively follow the Chorus Code of Conduct. Students were made familiar with this code during their first music class and it will be hanging in the music room for all rehearsals. Students who violate the code of conduct will be given one verbal warning. The second offense will result in a note or phone call home.  The third offense will result in removal from the rehearsal and/or chorus group.
  • Attendance at both of our performances is MANDATORY.  Thursday, December 13, 2012 at 7 p.m. is our Winter Concert. Students must report by 6:45 p.m.  Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at 7 p.m. is our Spring Concert.  Again, students must report by 6:45 p.m. I realize that emergencies occur; therefore I will need a signed letter from the parent or guardian prior to or immediately following the concert to excuse the student.

Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns. I am looking forward to making music!
